Study and Teaching
For students with a special interest in Buddhist Studies, the University of Hamburg offers ideal conditions. Issues pertaining to Buddhism may be approached through area-specific academic disciplines, such as Indian Studies, Tibetan Studies, Chinese Studies, Japanese Studies, and Thai Studies, but can also be studied in interdisciplinary departments such as Religious Studies. While the University of Hamburg does not currently offer a specific academic B.A.-degree in Buddhist Studies, it does, however, offer students the opportunity to focus on this area of research, particularly in the curricula of Indian and Tibetan Studies. In cooperation with the institutions involved in Buddhist Studies an International M.A. Program in Buddhist Studieshas been offered since the winter term 2011/12.
