Oren Hanner works on Buddhist and cross-cultural philosophy, with special interest in ethics, action theory, philosophy of mind and social theory. He studied philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Tel-Aviv University, and Buddhist Studies at Hamburg University. His dissertation dealt with the problem of selfless agency in the Abhidharmakośabhāṣya of Vasubandhu, comparing Vasubandhu’s way of addressing the problem with contemporary positions in Western analytic philosophy. At present, his main research projects focus on skeptical devices in Indian Buddhism and the foundations of group agency in the thought of Vasubandhu.
