M.A. Christine Sommerschuh

Christine Sommerschuh studied Tibetology, classical Indology, and ethnology at the University of Hamburg. Her master's thesis, entitled "The 15th-Century Tibetan Artist sMan-bla-don-grub and His Handbook for Painters", dealt with a 15th-Century Tibetan handbook on painting techniques. Her thesis supervisor was Prof. David Jackson. From 2001 until 2008, she taught written Tibetan at the Asien-Afrika Institut of the University of Hamburg. The course material developed during that period resulted in the book "Einführung in die tibetische Schriftsprache" Lehrbuch für den Unterricht und das vertiefende Selbststudium (Norderstedt, 2008). Her research interests lie in the biographies of the early Kagyü school. The edited and translated biography of Jigten Sumgön ('Jig-rten-gsum-mgon, 1143-1217, founder of the Drikung-Kagyü Order), called rDo rje rin po che 'bar ba, appeared under the title Chenga Sherab Jungne.
