Mutual cooperation relations established

The Numata Center for Buddhist Studies is delighted to announce the approval of a Memorandum of Understanding with Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Thailand. Following the visit of Associate Professor Dr. Phramaha Somboon Vuddhikaro to the Asien-Afrika-Institut of Universität Hamburg, the Memorandum was signed on Wednesday, November 27th.
Promoting international friendship and understanding by stimulating and supporting international activities and projects, the Memorandum formulates the following areas of cooperation between both institutions:
- Joint Research
- Student exchange
- Joint internationalized curricula
- Staff exchange
- Exchange of academic material and publications
Professor Somboon’s stay in Hamburg included visits to the Numata Center for Buddhist studies and to the Hamburger Gesellschaft für Thaiistik e.V. Further, he participated in various lectures and seminars at Universität Hamburg.
Highlighting his stay, he also held a public lecture on the philosophy of Yogācāra Buddhism in the presence of Prof. Dr. Volker Grabowski (Director of the Department of Southeast Asia), Prof. Dr. Michael Zimmermann (Numata Center for Buddhist Studies) and Prof. em. Lambert Schmithausen.
